Muge is a postdoctoral researcher in Food and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Reading. She is investigating the effects of cysteine amino acid on the resistance mechanisms including oxidative stress resistance, acid resistance, and heat resistance in L. monocytogenes. Motility and biofilm formation are two important behaviours affecting the growth, persistence, survival and virulence of L. monocytogenes. Environmental conditions affect the resistance of microorganisms, therefore evaluation of the specific compounds in defined media is the best way to investigate. Therefore, Muge is using DM and investigating the role of different compound on different mechanisms. Her talk will focus on the results achieved so far and current progress of the projects.
